Combine’s, also known as “Fitness Racing” are typically run on 160 to 1,000-meter multiple lap courses and include obstacles that test upper body, lower body, grip and total strength, including functional exercises. These events originated as and the Civilian Military Combine in the early 2010s as mass start events typically with 8 or more  people at a time.

Popular races include Deka Fit, Tough Mudder X (TMx), Hyrox, Spartan Crossfit Challenge. These events are designed to be spectator friendly, with exciting, head to head racing.
