The Mission of World Obstacle is to promote Obstacle Sports including, but not limited to Ninja, Obstacle Racing, Adventure Racing, Hybrid Racing, and Calisthenics throughout the world, to lead Obstacle Sports, and meet the requirements as specified by the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee. World Obstacle promotes World Series, World Cups, and World Championships for our member federations and their athlete members.
The goals of World Obstacle are to contribute to the greater good of humanity through participation in sport, without discrimination or bias of any kind. We aim to facilitate mutual understanding, collaboration, friendship and fairness between the athletes and all parties of interest. World Obstacle’s primary goal is to make better humans through Sport.
World Obstacle sanctions, supports, supervises, and produces world and continental championships and events including World Series, World Cups & World Championships in Adventure Racing, Obstacle Racing, Hybrid Racing, Ninja, Calisthenics, and related sports.
Founded in 2014, formalized in 2018 in Switzerland and granted Observer Status of GAISF (the Global Association of International Sports Federations) and the Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sports (AIMS, an IOC recognized organization) in 2021, World Obstacle, the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO), is recognized as the international governing body for Ninja Competitions, Obstacle Course Racing, Adventure Racing, Hybrid Racing, related disciplines and events. FISO is a not-for-profit independent international organisation made up of volunteers to develop obstacle sports and represent the needs of its members. Member national federations in over 100 countries represent their athletes and members in the FISO Congress and propose and vote on policies and rules for their benefit. The Congress and Executive Committee are responsible for taking the main decisions for the organisation and implement recommendations for each sport.
World Obstacle is a democratic association formed by and for the athletes and assists its national member associations achieve recogntion by their national sports authorities and National Olympic Committees. It facilitates safety, fairness and opportunities for athletes to compete at every level, including World Championships, World Series, World Cups, and Continental Championships. This includes international results and rankings, officials, rule enforcement, coaching, training camps, event information, event services, news, education, adjudication and more.
WORLD OBSTACLE, the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO), exists to represent the needs of the athletes and the national member federations. It is a member-based, not-for-profit, independent, international organisation run by volunteers. The President presides over all its activities, while the Congress and Executive Committee are responsible for taking the main decisions for the organisation. Member national federations represent the athletes in the FISO Congress and propose and vote on policies and rules for their benefit.
WORLD OBSTACLE facilitates safety, fairness and opportunities for athletes to compete at every level, including World Championships, World Series, World Cups and Continental Championships in each sport. This includes international results and rankings, officials, training, rule enforcement, insurance services, coaching, training camps, event information, event services, news, education, adjudication and more.
The members of World Obstacle are the national federations and associations representing the sports in over 100 countries. Each national member federation is composed of athlete members and represents their needs and interests. National Federation members are organised into Continental Regions, which are associations of the National Federations in four continental confederations in Africa, Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Each continental confederation is divided into sub-continental confederations.
Obstacle Sports are a collection of sports composed of disciplines and events where athletes overcome obstacles in timed competitions. Obstacle sport disciplines (or sub-sports) include Ninja Competitions, Obstacle Course Racing (OCR), Hybrid Racing, and Adventure Racing. There are many event formats across the disciplines, with distances from 50 meters to hundreds of kilometres. Formats include mass participation races from 1.5 km to 100 km in length, and Ninja TV Show style competitions (Sasuke and Ninja Warrior) with 1 billion viewers in 160 countries. Adventure Racing has been widely practiced and televised around the world since 1989, and it is estimated that over 300 million people watched the Eco-Challenge, Outdoor Quest and Raid Gauloises since 1995.
